Tuesday’s Trendwatch – A Shrug of an Accessory

November 29, 2011

Shrugs and Capelets, oh my!  These darling little accessories are coming back with a vengance.  They are making their appearance from vintage to new-age bridal.  Ranging in materials from fur, to lace, to silks ranging in colors that you can only DREAM of.  I stumbled across this one amazing little Etsy shop {have we mentioned how much we love Etsy??} and just had to share with you.  Designer, Holly Stalder, is a creative and pretty brilliant independent designer that specializes in wedding accessories.  Check out her Etsy shop and it will truly be love at first site.  She has a wide range of accessories, but I immediately fell in love with her unusually gorgeous capelets.  These designs can not only be worn with your wedding gown but would make the perfect compliment to any Bridesmaids dress and would make for one amazing gift to anyone in your bridal party.   Many of these items are made-to-order, so the design interest can seem endless.  Again, check her out… you will NOT be disappointed!

Tuesday’s Trendwatch – Oleg Cassini, designer

November 22, 2011

The History of Oleg Cassini.  It’s one of memorable proportions – especially for the fashion industry.  Since his passing only a few years prior, Oleg continues to make an impact on the Fashion world today – especially in the Bridal Industry.  Oleg Cassini was considered one of the most prestigious designers in the world.  He initially emerged on the fashion scene in Hollywood dressing the likes of Grace Kelly, Natalie Wood and Marilyn Monroe.  Later in his life he began designing for First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy {ahhh…such a dream} – at that point in his career he began to resonate with freshness and true imagination.  Let’s fast forward to today and understand the impact that he is making on today’s Bride.  Most recent, the designs have stumbled upon retail into a whole new way.  Making it more affordable then ever to own a true piece of luxury.  The designs are classic and constructed with fine fabric that truly speak for themselves.  He continues to make a mark on the bridal industry today and will for years to come.

Tuesday’s Trendwatch – The Bubble Hem

November 15, 2011

Designers are beginning to get more and more creative in adding delicate features to gowns. The bubble hem has been around for quite sometime but has really started to make an appearance this past Spring and Fall market. It’s an easy way to make your wedding gown look as though it has a tad more movement with a subtle clean finish. The bubble hem adds volume and works with numerous silouettes – such as the mermaid, ball gown and A-line styles. It can give you that extra bit of “umph” that you were looking for in your dress – but keeping the lines very sleek and smooth.

Below are some of our favorites from the Alfred Sung Bridal Collection . Enjoy!

Tuesday’s Trendwatch – To Each Her Own

November 8, 2011

We understand, we get it – its so easy to follow the trends…. As my mom ALWAYS says, “well – that’s what ALL the stars are wearing”. I will tell you exactly what I tell my mom – you do not have to fall into that same bucket of fashion. The trends are what’s on-point now and at this moment. Trends are what you see out in the market, that is happening as the fashion forward and {possibly} out-of-the-box thing to do for this moment. But there is one thing that you should NEVER and I mean EVER forget when you are researching, designing, purchasing or trying on, especially when it involves your wedding details – To Each is Her Own. What is perfect for you is just that – its perfect for YOU. Just because you see something is on Trend, does not mean that you have to do it. Step out of the box with your own style, your own personality and your own love for all things Wedding. Keep the wedding details centered around you and your soon-to-be husband’s own sense of style. Keep it your own – trust me, you will thank me in a couple of generations.

Groom Style – Pattern Play

October 27, 2011

Image found on Tumblr

Newsflash: All grooms do not have to wear the go-to black suit/tuxedo. Although it is a classic and you really can’t go wrong with black – there are plenty of options out there to show off your personal style & personality.  Also, don’t be scared to pair patterns together, it gives men a masculine & sophisticated look (think Mad Men).
