Fall 2012 Ready To Wear Bridesmaid Inspiration

April 25, 2012

I thought I would compile my favorite evening looks from the Fall 2012 RTW shows. The standouts for me were Tory Burch with the glamorous evening gloves which would be a fun addition to a bridesmaid dress, especially if you’re having a more formal wedding and Oscar del la Renta. It was the simple little touches that stood out for me, the brooch on a dress or fishnet stockings can really let you have fun with your bridesmaids and encourage them to add their own style.

Popping the Question… To Your Bridesmaids! – Music City Events

March 16, 2012

Asking your bests to take a place of honor at your wedding might sound simple enough BUT if your loving groom puts so much thought into popping your question, why not do the same for your girls? It can be a lot of fun and absolutely builds the excitement from a mere question to embarking on an adventure!

Consider this entertaining way to pop the question – wouldn’t you love to have this show up in your inbox?

Create a fun and yummy-licious presentation with tiny banners that read “Will you be my bridesmaid?” and place your little banner of joy in their favorite flavored cupcake.

Have a friend who loves accessories? Find a fantastic headband and attach a little note that reads “Will you head down the aisle with me?” (or perhaps “I need help keeping my head on straight!), or pick out a lovely little hat box and fill it with ring pops – yes, those ring pops! – and ask away!
Create a Bridesmaid’s Survivor Kit by filling a pretty box with a compact mirror and lip gloss, measuring tape (for her bridesmaids dress), her favorite candy or gum, Tylenol (for all the headaches you are bound to cause!), travel sized fingernail files, bobby pins and other fun goodies or you can purchase one of these lovelies from My Wedding Favors. Something catchy like “How can I survive without you?” is a sweet way to tag this gift!
Whatever you do and however you ask, I’m sure your ladies will be ecstatic at your invitation and will happily say yes (just like you!).

Tuesday’s Trendwatch – Insider Tips from Arzelle’s

February 7, 2012

Wouldn’t we all want to know the insider secrets?  Well ladies, we were able to stumble upon a few… and the best part is that they are directly from one of the most prestigious bridal salons in Nashville.  Arzelle’s features designers that are only found in New York and bring them directly to our Brides here in Nashville.  They have couture gowns in a wide array of prices, fabrics and styles – keeping every bride in mind.  They also carry a fabulous collection of bridesmaids dresses, selections for mother of the bride as well as their very own “Grooms Room” – where your groom will feel right at home in fitting for his Tuxedo.

Arzelle’s has been around the Nashville scene for many years and has a wonderful reputation for being some of the leading industry bridal know-how’s.  Below we have some advise – some VERY well spoken advise – directly from the ladies at Arzelle’s.  It’s always best to get the insider advise directly from the source.  So take note and let it sink in.  You won’t regret it….

Well it’s finally here, Bridal Season! Here are a few expert tips that should be taken by any newly engaged bride. If you have already been a bride, share this with all your engaged friends!

1. Do Your Research – Nine months to a year start collecting photos of dresses. Start noting certain styles of fabrics you like. Try to in vision what you want to look like on your wedding day.

2. Book Your Boutiques – Call a month ahead for Saturday reservations. Allow an hour and half for your appointments. Arzelle’s tip: Make your appointment on the weekdays, it is less crowded!

3. Select Your Style – The date of your wedding and the setting really influence the style of your wedding dress. Example: If you have a beach wedding, you won’t be wearing a silk satin ballgown!

4. Try It On For Size – When trying wedding gowns on wear the appropriate undergarments. If you are planning on wearing Spanx on your wedding day, then wear Spanx when trying on wedding dresses.

5. The Gown – When shopping for your dream wedding dress, bring only two or three relatives or friends with you. Wedding dress shopping can actually be a bad experience if you bring too many people with you. It can be counterproductive when there are too many opinions about the dress. Consider professional help, and ask the consultant to pick a dress that they think would look good on you. While it may be tempting to bring all your bridesmaids and family members, it is much better for the bride and her wedding dress shopping experience.

6. Take The Plunge – Purchase your dress at least six months in advance to allow shipping and adjustments. Our dresses at Arzelle’s only take 14-16 weeks to come in, but you need to allow time for alterations and bridal portraits.

7. Don’t Show Everyone Your Dress! – You want everyone to be stunned when they see you on your wedding day, only let a few close people see your dress before the big day.

Ready, Set, Go!
Happy Bridal Season Everyone!

White on White Weddings – Yay or Nay?

December 12, 2011

It all started with the royal wedding – beautiful Kate & Pippa both dressed in elegant white gowns.  Then came the ill-fated Kim Kardashian wedding, where all the bridesmaids wore white.  This got me thinking, is the white on white trend going mainstream or is this something that only royals & celebrities can pull off?  I actually like the look if it’s pulled off correctly and doesn’t leave your bridesmaids looking like the bride, but tell us, what do you think of this new trend?

Tuesday’s Trendwatch – Twobirds Bridesmaid

December 6, 2011

I stumbled across this new and “interesting” Bridesmaids collection a few weeks ago and have been waiting patiently to feature this for our Tuesday’s Trendwatch.  I honestly have not seen a bridesmaids dress this intricate and fabulous as this before – truly I am just sort of mezmerized.  Twobirds Bridesmaid, a collection of dresses that can worn specific to your personality 15 different ways with using the same dress.  The bodice of the dress can be tied, shaped, looped or wrapped.  Still confused?  Now you know why I have been so mezmerized.  The designs of the dress are so unique and classic and truly you can wear this dress again and again.  Wrap the top of the dress and wear as a one-shoulder design, or loop around your neck to wear as a halter, or how about even wrap around to wear strapless.  Its just simple yet elegant.  I just cant get enough of it.

Founder Ariane Goldman gives us a glimpse into the rhyme and reason for Twobirds Bridemaid in an interview with 944 Magazine:  “The concept behind Twobirds is based on the premise that bridal parties no longer need to spend hundreds of dollars on unflattering dresses that they will no longer wear after the wedding.  Twobirds dresses enable your bridesmaids to look and feel their best in a dress that wraps more then 15 different ways to flatter all body types.  With no alterations neccessary and two sizes (0-14 and 16-24) women can choose how they want to wear it, while providing the bride with consistency but individual style that works for bridemaids.  In essence, they can wear the dresses again after the wedding, thus killing “two birds” with one dress.”

Check it out…. I promise you will not be disappointed.
