Tuesday’s Trendwatch – Twobirds Bridesmaid

by Jenn Ward on December 6, 2011

I stumbled across this new and “interesting” Bridesmaids collection a few weeks ago and have been waiting patiently to feature this for our Tuesday’s Trendwatch.  I honestly have not seen a bridesmaids dress this intricate and fabulous as this before – truly I am just sort of mezmerized.  Twobirds Bridesmaid, a collection of dresses that can worn specific to your personality 15 different ways with using the same dress.  The bodice of the dress can be tied, shaped, looped or wrapped.  Still confused?  Now you know why I have been so mezmerized.  The designs of the dress are so unique and classic and truly you can wear this dress again and again.  Wrap the top of the dress and wear as a one-shoulder design, or loop around your neck to wear as a halter, or how about even wrap around to wear strapless.  Its just simple yet elegant.  I just cant get enough of it.

Founder Ariane Goldman gives us a glimpse into the rhyme and reason for Twobirds Bridemaid in an interview with 944 Magazine:  “The concept behind Twobirds is based on the premise that bridal parties no longer need to spend hundreds of dollars on unflattering dresses that they will no longer wear after the wedding.  Twobirds dresses enable your bridesmaids to look and feel their best in a dress that wraps more then 15 different ways to flatter all body types.  With no alterations neccessary and two sizes (0-14 and 16-24) women can choose how they want to wear it, while providing the bride with consistency but individual style that works for bridemaids.  In essence, they can wear the dresses again after the wedding, thus killing “two birds” with one dress.”

Check it out…. I promise you will not be disappointed.

This holiday season I thought it’d be nice to share some of my all time favorite products that I am so thankful for!

1- Origins Checks & Balances cleanser. Never has a cleanser been able to zap my oil, hydrate my dry spots, and lick every ounce of makeup off all in one sudsy wash. Plus, it has no scary junk in it. Perfect for all of us “in between” skin types.
2- Coconut Oil. It’s SO WONDERFUL for my legs after a shave. Or right before bed on my hands and feet. I smell delicious, it soaks right in, and it heals so well.
3- My scrubby brush. I don’t even know the technical name for this thing, but it has made my skin brighter and more even because of its gentle exfoliation.
4- Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I hate to admit I love this so much. I’m a big advocate for natural foundations, but this one has such a beautiful radiant finish, I can’t help but crave it. Gives your skin a healthy glow and covers all the uglies.
5- Urban Decay Naked Palette. So many universal neutral shades! Everything from super nude, so dark & glam. I use it almost daily.

Bridal Dress Inspiration from Givenchy Fall 2011 Couture

by Michelle Hartz on December 1, 2011

“Purity” is what Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy used for his inspiration for the Fall 2011 Haute Couture collection. I’ve been looking forward to featuring these dresses for awhile now. I first came across this collection in July and obviously haven’t forgotten about it! I love everything about it…the way the dresses are photographed, the streamline shape and the beautiful details. Tisci used crystal drops with a reflective treatment to transform in different light on one dress and duck and ostrich feathers frame the neck of another. I also love how he kept the dresses modern with the cutaway backs, chunky zippers and sleek pulled back hair. To me these dresses truly embody what couture is all about.
