Guest Post – Makeup Artist, Amy Lynn Larwig

by Guest on January 20, 2012

I always like to ask my clients about their normal, everyday makeup routine before I get started making their faces super fab. Majority of the time, the women I work with are used to choosing their products from Target or Walgreens and are easily sold on CoverGirl ads of Taylor Swift. I believe that when you find a product you love, you should stick to it, regardless of where it came from or how much it costs. But I do want to make mention of a few cosmetic lines you may be overlooking.

Tarte- Beauty products that pack a punch, but are still green, safe & healthy. Available online or at Sephora, you won’t be disappointment in their performance for your everyday makeup. Intro product: LipSurgence

Urban Decay- Makeup with spunk. UD has some unique items that will open new doors for your morning routine. Also available online or at Sephora, they are high pigment colors with pizzaz and products that address everyday issues such as eyecolor creasing. Intro product: The Naked Palette. A palette so fantastic, I’m devoting an entire blog post to it next week.

Dior- When you think luxury, you think Dior. These products are amazing quality and prefect for the girl who wants a couture look, even when she’s just going grocery shopping. Found online, at Sephora, or at department stores, this is a brand that oozes lavishness and boasts products that merge beauty and fashion. Intro product: DiorShow mascara.

So step out of the Maybelline box ladies and start exploring other lines that may have your next all time fav waiting for you!

Finding The Perfect Hairstyle

by Jane Osgood Broussard on January 19, 2012

Choosing the perfect wedding day hair style can be, like every other decision, overwhelming. Just like every other detail, it is important to take time to find a style that suits you. Before my wedding some people told me to go natural. While I agree with why this works, you have probably seen it in photos and liked it or it would not be your au natural, I did not wear it natural. Parted on the side, straight and flowing down my back would not have worked with my turn of the century fitted 3/4 length sleeved jacket. It all went up on top of my head to create the perfect lift for my simple veil. The point is to take time to decide what works with your
look. Look through pictures, find a stylist, and have a dress rehearsal for your wedding do! At a minimum have at least one dress rehearsal with your wedding day hair stylist. If you are undecided or still deciding do not hesitate to set up another run through. Your wedding day pictures are set in stone forever so make sure you feel comfortable with how your hair looks on the day of your wedding.

Tuesday’s Trendwatch – Statement Necklaces

by Jenn Ward on January 17, 2012

I think that adding a statement piece of jewelry to your wedding day attire can seem like a classic and somewhat timeless choice. The jewelry can reflect your personality and your personal style by making one simple selection. Add some crystals or even some colored stones to your simple or intricate white dress. Or if you are changing into a tea-length number for your reception why not add a statement necklace that will throw your guests for a loop. Add a pop of color. Add some sparkle. Add a statement necklace that reflects your personality.

One of my ALL time favorite designers is Kate Spade. Her jewelry can span from one end of the spectrum to the other. From classic to whimsy. Below are a few of my favorites that would favor any neckline.
