Tuesday’s Trendwatch – Straight from the Runway

March 29, 2011

Spring Bridal Market in New York City is just right around the corner.  It always gets me so excited to see what the designer are going to be debuting at this MAJOR event.  This week, everyone who is everyone attends…. all the who’s who throw the most fabulous parties and all of the lucky one’s {like us} get to enjoy in all of the recaps and renditions of what played out that week in good ‘ol NYC.  Just to get us all in the mood of whats to come…. I wanted to give a small designer recap of what was seen on the Runway last fall {which is for Fall/Winter 2011 in stores}.

Many designers used traditional fabrics such as taffeta’s and tulle’s, while some still used satin and lace .  We start seeing Bridal gowns in couture colors ranging from soft pearl grays to pale yellows – venturing off the path of pure white.  Lots of sashes and lots of fabric shapes, which accentuate your waist and make any gown seem figure flattering.  One word that was used over and over again was “organic” – not just in the fabrics used, but the shapes that the fabric creates.  Interesting appliques to create a visual interest with the drop waist details.

Ultra-flattering dresses in all sorts of sillouettes were on the runway last fall.  Can’t wait to see what NYC brings us in April!
